Willis Towers Watson (WTW), the leading global advisory, broking, and solutions company and Forbes’ Best Employer for Diversity in 2019, paid NU-Asia Pacific College a visit last February 21, 2019. Fifteen seniors, all representing different courses like BS Computer Science (BSCS), BS Information Technology (BSIT), and BS Entertainment & Multimedia Computing (BSEMC), gathered to gain wisdom from the experts.
According to Ms. Rhea Valbuena, SoCIT’s Executive Director, “It was a special session wherein WTW leaders introduced their internship program which focuses on the Software Engineering Track; starting from pre-internship and ending in job offers."
The students will undergo a self-paced Pluralsight training on programming languages such as .Net or Python for three months before their onsite internship. Case studies and Pluralsight IQ Tests are included to determine the degree of learning acquired upon completion of the prescribed courses. Students who will successfully complete the assessments will eventually be invited for an interview. The interns will then be part of the Software Development and Corporate Culture Immersion onsite team. They will also gain firsthand exposure to WTW’s software development, technology, and processes.
This is a welcome addition to SoCIT’s thrust of building bridges between the academe and the industry. Moreover, WTW is one of NU-APC’s active industry partners.
